FWELF Students

Student Participation Overview

An important aspect of the Forum is the participation of students from various colleges and universities statewide. FWELF is uniquely designed to incorporate students, with an emphasis on women and minorities, into the program to provide valuable opportunities for their future in the industry. The Forum gives students direct access to statewide energy leaders and policy makers, affording them the opportunity to network and learn of the multitude of opportunities in the industry. Through personal stories, career coaching, and educational panels and keynotes, the students are given a kickstart into their careers.

The reach of FWELF expands well beyond the three day forum, year round FWELF provides opportunities for women to share their stories through the forum’s podcast, taking a deep dive into the personal careers of women and minorities in the energy industry. Additionally, the forum works with industry and workforce development leaders to strategically assist in providing opportunities for the future workforce by matching candidates with career opportunities.

The success of the forum is evident in the testimony’s provided by student attendees. “The Florida’s Women in Energy Leadership Forum showcased that leaders are working to change this situation, and I was honored to be a guest among them in Orlando when they discussed strategies for change.”

In addition to empowering women forward, the event linked female students with potential employers. It opened my eyes to an array of career paths in the energy sector. Without a doubt, my expectations going into the conference were far exceeded.”

Additionally, many former student attendees of the Forum, now hold careers in the energy industry
